Indonesia Posts 0.32% Inflation in January 2019

Jakarta: The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) annnounced Friday that January's inflation reached 0.32 percent month-to-month and 2.82 percent year-on-year.

"On a monthly basis, it reached 0.32 percent. On a yearly basis, it reached 2.82 percent," BPS chairman Suhariyanto said.

Last month, food prices increased by 0.92 percent. In the meantime, airline fares increased by 0.02 percent.

On the other hand, fuel prices decreased by 0.04 percent. In addition to that, train fares also decreased by 0.04 percent.

"As many as 73 cities experienced inflation. Nine cities experienced deflation," the BPS leader added.

"Tanjung Pandan recorded the highest inflation due to rising fish and chicken meat prices. Tual recorded the highest deflation due to decreasing fish prices and airline fares," he added.
