Indonesia's Poverty Rate Reaches 10.64% in March

Metrotvvnews.com, Jakarta: Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded the country's poverty rate reached 10.64 percent in September 2016-March 2017 period.

"Around 27.77 million poor citizens," BPS chairman Suhariyanto said in Central Jakarta on Monday morning.

The amount of poor citizens in urban areas reached 10.67 million people in September 2016-March 2017 period. It increased by around 188 thousand people compared to the previous period.

The amount of poor citizens in village areas reched 17.10 million people in September 2015-March 2017 period. It decreased by around 181 thousand people compared to the previous period.

"Urban areas are different with village areas," Suhariyanto mentioned.
