Jokowi Inaugurates Two Toll Roads in Medan

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo  inaugurated two toll road projects in Medan, North sumatra on Friday, October 12, 2017.

The Medan-Binjai toll road spans 17 kilometers (11 miles). The groundbreaking was held in January 2015. The construction was carried out by PT Hutama Karya.

The Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi toll road spans 61.8 kilometers (38.4 miles). The groundbreaking was held in September 2014. The construction was carried out by a consortium of PT Jasa Marga, PT Waskita Karya, PT Waskita Toll Road and PT Pembangunan Perumahan.

"These toll roads will increase access to Lake Toba. They will boost tourism in the region," the PDIP politician said.

"Transportation costs will be cheaper. Commodity prices will be lower," he added.

The government introduced the Trans-Sumatra highway mega project in 2012.It issed the Government Regulatio No. 100 of 2014 on the acceleration of highway development in Sumatra in 2014.
