Indonesia to Help Increase Ease of Doing Business in Asia-Pacific

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Vice President Jusuf Kalla led the Indonesian delegation at the 24th APEC Summit last weekend.

Peru hosted the summit on November 19-20. Around 21 leaders attended the event.

"Trade, investment and connectivity are essential to economic growth in Asia-Pacific," Kalla said, according to a press release from the Foreign Ministry on Monday (11/21).

"They should be supported by open and inclusive policies," he continued.

He mentioned that Indonesia is committed to suppport APEC Trade Facilitation. The program is intended to increase ease of doing business in the region by 10 percent in 2018.

"It will boost market access for commodities that help rural development and poverty eradication," he stated.

The 21 members of APEC account for 39 percent of the global population, 57 percent of global GDP and 49 percent of global trade.
