Indonesia Posts $1.72 Billion of Trade Surplus in August 2017

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has announced that the country's trade surplus stood at $1.72 billion in August 2017.

"The non-oil and gas sector recorded a trade surplus of $2.41 billion. The oil and gas sector recorded a trade deficit of $680 million," said BPS chairman Suhariyanto  at the BPS headquarters in Central Jakarta on Friday morning.

Indonesia's exports stood at $15.21 billion last month. The nation's exports increased by 11.73 percent compared to the previous month.

Indonesia's imports stood at $13.49 billion last month. The nation's imports increased  by 2.88 percent compared to the previous month.

"Indonesia's exports cumulatively stood at $108.79 billion in January-August 2017. The nation's exports increased by 17.58 percent compared to the same period last year," he said.
