Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the government will subsidize sea and air transports next year.

Budi mentioned Indonesian logistics industry is too dependent on land transport. He admitted sea and air transports are more expensive than land transport.

"The policy will make sea and air transports more competitive," said Budi in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He added sea and air transports are more suitable for archipelagic country. Cheaper sea and air transports can boost development in remote areas.

"Especially in Papua region," he stated.
