Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The World Bank praised the tax amnesty program in the October 2016 edition of its Indonesia Economic Quartely report.

The World Bank acknowledged that tax collection in the first phase of the program was better than previously expected.

"Higher than previously estimated revenues from the program helped reduce fiscal risks," stated the world bank in the report.

"Tax collection in the first phase of the program reached IDR 93.4 trillion or 56.6% of the overall target for all three phases," it continued.

Indonesia's economic resilience is strengthened by improved fiscal management. Weaker global growth and volatile global financial market are still the main external risks.

The World Bank projects Indonesia's economic growth at 5.1 percent in 2016 and 5.3 percent in 2017.
