Rupiah Will Only Weaken Temporarily: BI
Illustration (Photo: AFP), Jakarta: Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Perry Warjiyo said the weakening of rupiah due to the United States presidential election will be temporary.

"I think it is normal," Perry said in Jakarta on Wednesday (11/9).

"It will follow the news. It can go up or go down," he continued.

Perry  mentioned that Bank Indonesia will closely monitor the market. He ensured that the central bank is ready to stabilize the market.

"We are not hesitant to stabilize the market," he stated.

Bloomberg showed the rupiah depreciated by 1.02 percent or 133 points to Rp13,217 per USD as of 12.36 PM Jakarta time.

Donald Trump currently is leading against Hillary Clinton. Trump needs 270 electoral college votes to win the election.

Trump is considered as a threat to global economy. He is known for his anti-free trade messages.
