Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Tax Director General Ken Dwijugiasteadi said the government will not extend the tax amnesty period.

"The law does not allow that," Ken said at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (9/21).

The tax amnesty program is divided into three periods. The government offers the lowest redemption rates in the first period (July-September 2016).

Center for Indonesia Taxation Analysis (CITA) executive director Yustinus Prastowo created an online petition earlier this week. He demanded President Joko Widodo to extend the first period.

"Extend the first period until November 2016 so the program can be more optimal," Yustinus said in the petition.
