Gov't to Cut Gas Prices for Petrochemical & Fertilizer Industries

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry plans to reduce gas prices for petrochemical and fertilizer industries in the near future.

"We are still discussing it," said ESDM minister Ignasius Jonan at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday (10/20).

Separately, ESDM Ministry's oil and gas director general IGN Wiratmaja Puja said lower gas prices for petrochemical and fertilizer industries will create great multiplier effect.

"It will create jobs. It will boost agriculture sector. It has great multiplier effect," said Wirat.

Previously, President Joko Widodo ordered his cabinet to reduce gas prices from around USD9/mmbtu to below USD6/mmbtu in January 2017.
