Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Mirza Adityasawara revealed the central bank intervened when the rupiah slumped to Rp13,800 per USD this morning.

"BI made announcement to the market. BI bought government securities," said Mirza in Jakarta on Friday (11/11).

"After that, the rupiah rebounded to Rp13,500 per USD," he continued.

Mirza mentioned the weakening of rupiah did not reflect the economic fundamentals. Therefore, the central bank intervened the market.

"Now, the market condition is better," he stated.
