Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Customs and Excise Directorate General (DJBC) is committed to monitor illegal cigarette distribution.

"DJBC has handled 1,350 cases in 2016," said Customs and Excise Director General Heru Pambudi in a written statement on Thursday (10/13)).

"We have conficstated 156.2 million cigarettes worth Rp116.2 billion," he continued.

He added DJBC handled 1,232 cases in 2015. It confiscated 89.6 million cigarettes worth Rp90.68 billion last year.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Cigarette Producers Association (GAPPRI) chairman Ismanu said his association supports efforts to eradicate illegal cigarettes.

"We want fair treatment for legal cigarette producers," said Ismanu.
