Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) CEO Tadashi Maeda said high-speed rail is very suitable to connect Jakarta and Surabaya.

"I think it is very suitable," said Maeda in Jakarta on Thursday (10/20).

The distance between Jakarta and Surabaya is around 800 kilometers. High-speed rail will shorten the journey between the two countries to four hours.

"High-speed rail must not be longer than four hours," he continued.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan offered the project to Japan when he visited the country earlier this month.

The Indonesian government awarded Jakarta-Bandung high speed rail project to China last year.
