Gresik Administration Urged to Develop Tourism in Bawean Island

Metrotvnews.com, Surabaya: The Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs challenged Gresik Administration to develop tourism in Bawean Island. The island has potential to be popular tourist destination.
 
Bawean island is located off the coast of Java. It is administratively part of Gresik Regency, East Java.
 
"We urge Gresik Administration to develop tourism in Bawean Island," said the ministry's deputy of human resources, technology and culture Safri Burhanuddin in front of Baweanese businessmen here, Sunday (5/29/2016).
 
According to Safri, only few tourists know about Bawean Island. He underlined promotion is important to attract more tourists to the island.
 
"Bawean Island should be popular tourist destination. We don't need foreign investors. There are a lot of businessmen from the island," he continued.
 
Baweanese Businessmen Association (PSB) Advisory Board VChief Yahya Zaini hopes Bawean could be an alternative for Bali. "We want to develop tourism in the island. It is aligned with initiative from President Joko Widodo to create alternatives for Bali," he stated.
