Athirah Wins Best Film at FFI 2016
Athirah (Photo: Miles Film), Jakarta: Athirah took the Best Film Award at the 2016 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI 2016). 

The biopic drama beat Rudy Habibie, Salawaku, Surat dari Praha and Aisyah, Biarkan Kami Bersaudara.

Athirah also took the Best Director Award and the Best Female Leading Role Award.

The movie is an adaptation of Alberthiene Endah's novel. It tells the story of Vice President Jusuf Kalla's mother. It portrays the life of Buginese family.

Previously, the movie received positive receptions at international film festivals such as Vancouver International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival.

FFI 2016 took place at Taman Ismail Marzuki in Jakarta on Sunday (11/6) night.
