Jakarta: Vice President Jusuf Kalla has instructed local governments in West Java, Jakarta and Banten to improve transportation infrastructures in Jabodetabek area.

"We have allocated funds for the next ten years. We should resolve the issue in ten years," Kalla told a government meeting on Monday, January 28, 2019.

The meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno.

It was also attended by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, Banten Governor Wahidin Halim, West Java deputy governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum as well as South Tangerang mayor Airin Rachmi Diany.

Jabodetabek comprises Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. The area has a population of more than 28 million people.

It is the most populous urban area in Indonesia. It is the center of government and economy of the country.
