Jakarta: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned Indonesian Sports Committee (KONI) head Tono Suratman as a witness in an alleged bribery case related to a grant to KONI from Youth and Sports Ministry in the 2018 fiscal year.

There are currently five suspects in the case. They are Youth and Sports Ministry deputy Mulyana, Youth and Sports Ministry commitment making officer Adi Purnomo, Youth and Sports Ministry administrative staff Eko Triyono, KONI secretary general Ending Fuad Hamidy and KONI treasurer Jhonny E Awuy.

"We summoned him as a witness for suspect EFH," KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah told reporters on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

Last year, Adi and Eko allegedly received Rp318 from Ending and Awuy. In the meantime, Mulyana allegedly receieved kickbacks multiple times.
In June, Mulyana reportedly received Rp300 million and a luxurious car from the KONI officials. In September, he reportedly received a mobile phone from them.

KONI is responsible on sport development as well as organising national sporting events. Its biggest event is the National Sports Week (PON) that is held every four years.
