Jokowi Has Received Khofifah's Resignation Letter: Spokesman

Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has received a letter of resignation from Minister of Social Affairs Khofifah Indar Parawansa.

"President Jokowi will make decision as soon as possible," Presidential Spokesman Johan Budi Sapto Prabowo told this morning.

Khofifah will run in the East Java gubernatorial election in June. She will wait for the verification result in February.

"I will resign from the Working Cabinet after passing the registration stage," said the Nahdlatul Ulama figure at the Vice President's Office on Tuesday afternoon.

Khofifah has received official endorsements from  Golkar Party, Democratic Party, NasDem Party, Hanura Party, PPP and PKPI. She also has picked Trenggalek Regent Emil Dardak as her running mate. 

Indonesia will hold simultaneous regional elections in mid-2018. The country then will hold simultaneous legislative and presidential elections in the beginning of 2019.
