Minister Susi Refuses to Run in West Java Election

Metrotvnews.com,Jakarta: Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti has refused PDIP's offer to run in the upcoming West Java gubernatorial election.

"I love the ocean. Bandung city has no ocean," the popular minister said in South Jakarta on Friday afternoon.

"The job as a minister for the president is very important. The job cannot be abruptly abandoned,"  the Pangandaran-born minister said.

The influential businesswoman visited PDIP headquarters earlier this week. The Susi Air founder met with PDIP chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri at the time.

"We have monitored public opinions among West Java Residents. A number of influential figures have proposed Bu Susi as gubernatorial candidate," PDIP politician deputy secretary general Eriko Sotadurga said.
