6.6 Magnitude Quake Hits Central Sulawesi

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: A 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck Poso regency, Central Sulawesi province at 10.35 PM local time on Monday.

"The earthquake did not trigger tsunami," the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.

The earthquake occured at 38 kilometers northewst of Poso city. It occurred around 10 kilometers below the surface.

The earthquake was felt for around 20 seconds in Poso. It was felt for around five seconds in Palu.

"The earthquake created panic," the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported.
