Police to Tighten Security Ahead of Independence Day Anniversary

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Law enformcement agencies will anticipate terror threats ahead of the Independence Day this month.

"We have started assessments. We have prepared security officers," the National Police spokesperson Inspector General Setyo Wiseso said at the National Police headquarters on Wednesday.

"We will protect malls, tourist attractions and other public places. We will deploy security officers," he added.

The Independence Day is celebrated every August 17. The official ceremony is concentrated at the Presidential Palace.

"We will increase awareness. We will follow National Police chief's instruction," he stated.
