6 Provinces Have Declared Emergency Over Forest Fires: Ministry

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan have declared emergency status over forest fire problem since January 2017.

"Central Kalimantan has declared emergency status over forest fire problem since last week," Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya in Jakarta on Tuesday. 

Authorities have delpoyed hundreds of firefighters. They have prepared dozens of water bombing aircrafts.

"We have started the integrated operational system. We have implemented the integrated prevention system," Siti said.

The central government will coordinate with regional leaders. It will monitor Air Pollution Index (API) records.

"We will stay vigilant. We will maintain concentration," Siti added.
