Jakarta: The National Campaign Team of Indonesia Working Coalition (TKN-KIK) has said that incumbent President Joko "Jokowi" Widoodo is ready to attend the first presidential debate.

The first presidential debate will take place at Bidakara Hotel in South Jakarta on January 17. The event will discuss about law, human rights, corruption and terrorism.

"Why do our KPK friends dare to arrest corrupt officials? Because they are fully supported by President Jokowi," TKN-KIK spokesperson Arya Sinulinnga told reporters on Thursday.

"President Jokowi have never intervened KPK. It can arrest any officials," he added.

Indonesia will hold the first ever simultaneous presidential and general elections on April 17. Voters will pick the president and lawmakers on the same day.

President Jokowi is endorsed by PDIP, Golkar Party, PKB, PPP, NasDem Party, Hanura Party, PKPI, Perindo Party and PSI. Opposition leader Prabowo Subianto is endorsed by Gerindra Party, Democratic Party, PKS, PAN and Berkarya Party.
