Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Thousands of people joined the #SaveRohingya rally at the An-Nur Mosque in Magelang, Central Java on Friday, September 8, 2017.

The rally was started with Friday prayers. It was followed by mass prayers, speeches and fundraising activities.

The rally was organized by a number of Islamic mass organizations. It was secured by hundreds of law enforcement officials.

"We should show solidarity with the Rohingya people," rally participant Khudaifah said.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi met with Myanmar State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi earlier this week. She called for the end of the violence in the troubled Rakhine state.
