Jakarta: National Police chief General Tito Karnavian will prepare security measures to protect Christmas and end-of-year celebrations.

Police will monitor food supplies from agricultural regions. They will maintain food prices in wholesale markets.

Secondly, police will anticipate potential threats from terror groups. They will guard churches in conflict-prone regions.

"We will coordinate with Nahdlatul Ulama, Anshor and others," the former National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) head said at the National Police head office on Thursday morning.

Lastly, police will observe traffic conditions during Christmas and end-of-year holidays. They will prevent traffic jams in big cities.

"We will provide optimal services," the former Jakarta Metro Police head added.
