Jakarta: Authorities arrested an Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) supporter in the Sangihe-Talaud sea near the Indonesia-Philippine border.

"His name is Abu Musad. His hometown is Banten," the National Police spokesperson Inspector General Wasisto Setyo in South Jakarta on Monday afternoon.

"He wanted to join ISIS. He wanted to enter southern Philippine region," he added.

The suspect was found in North Sulawesi waters by the Navy last week. He was moved to Jakarta by the Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) this morning.

"We have searched suspicious contacts in his phone. We will investigate several names in the phone," he added.
