Jakarta: A fire broke out at the Jakarta Maritime Museum in North Jakarta on Tuesday morning at around 08.55 AM local time.

"That is right. The Jakarta Maritime Museum is on fire,"  North Jakarta Firefighter Agency operator Udin told Medcom.id this morning.

Authorities have evacuated museum visitors and nearby residents. They also have deployed at least 21 fire trucks and dozens of firefighters.

"There is no report of any casualty. The fire is still on going," he added.

The museum is located in the old Sunda Kelapa harbor area. It was built within the former Dutch East Indies Company warehouse complex.
