Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Jakarta Provincial Administration has cancelled the trial expansion of the motorcycle ban at the Sudirman area.

"We have talked with a number of stakeholders," the Jakarta Transportation Agency head Andri Yansyah said at the Jakarta city Hall in Gambir, Central Jakarta on Thursday, September 7, 2017.

"Governor Djarot Syaiful Hidayat has given a number of instructions," he added.

The Jakarta provincial administration initially planned to begin the trial expansion next week. The Jakarta government will reconsider the trial expansion after the completion of the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project.

The motorcycle ban is currently implemented at the Thamrin area. The controversial policy is strongly opposed by local residents, especially motorcycle owners.
