Jakarta: Bali island's Mount Agung volcano spew black smoke at around 17.35 Central Indonesia Time on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

"Siaga status (Level 3). Nearby residents are advised to remain calm," the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesperson Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said on his official twitter account on Tuesday afternoon.

"Don't panic. It is important to avoid area located less than 6-7.5 km from the crater," he added.

Mount Agung's alert status was upgraded to the highest level (Level 4) in September. It was downgraded to the lower level (Level 3) in October.
