Manado: The North Sulawesi Police spokesperseon Senior Commissioner Ibrahim Tompo said Friday that floods and landslides hit a number of regions in the province this morning.

Some of the affected regions are Manado, Bitung and Bolaang Mongondow. There are no reports of casualties and injuries so far.

The North Sulawesi Police and other related agencies have deploted their personnel to help the victims of the floods and landslides. Rescuers have removed debris and stones to reach the affected regions.

"Mahuwu district was one of the hardest hit areas," the police official said.

Heavy rainfall will occur in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java and Papua throughout February. Torrential rain may trigger hydro-meteorological disasters such as floods, dust devils and landslides.
