Jokowi Names N219 Aircraft Nurtanio
The aircraft is named after Indonesian aviation pioneer Air Vice Marshall Nurtanio Pringgoadisuryo.

Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo named the N-219 aircraft as Nurtano at Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in Makasar, East Jakarta on Friday, November 10, 2017.

The aircraft is named after Indonesian aviation pioneer Air Vice Marshall Nurtanio Pringgoadisuryo. It is manufactured by Indonesian state-owned aviation company PT Dirgantara Indonesia.

"It should be commercially feasible commercially feasible. Moreover, it should be industry friendly," the Indonesian Democratic Party of Strugge (PDIP) politician said.

"We must find enough buyers. So,we can develop more planes," the media-savvy politician added.

The aircraft  is powered two Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-42 turboprop engines. It is capable of reaching isolated areas.

The aircraft can carry as many as 19 passengers. It can take off from most short dirt runways.
