Police to Minimize Tensions ahead of 2018 Regional Elections

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The National Police is committed to monitor conflict-prone regions to minimize political tensions ahead of the 2018 simultaneous regional elections.

"The main priorities are West Java, Central Java and East Java. The others are West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi and Papua," the National Police chief General Tito Karnavian said in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Thursday, October 19, 2017.

"We have held many regional elections. We will address various sensitive issues," he added.

The simultaneos regional elections will be held in June 2018. They will be held in 17 province, 39 cities and 115 regencies.

The National Police will mobilize all resources. It will cooperate with General Elections Commission (KPU), Election Supervision Board (Bawaslu) and other related institutions.
