Densus 88 Arrests 5 Suspected Terrorists in Pekanbaru
Illustration (Photo: Metrotvnews), Jakarta: The National Police's Special Detachment 88 Anti-Terror (Densus 88) arrested five suspected terrorists in separate places in Pekanbaru, Riau on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.

The suspected terrorists have been identified as Yoyok Handoko, Wawan, Beni Samsu Trino, Handoko and Nanang Kurniawan. They have been monitored for long period of time.

Wawan allegedly headed a terror cell in Pekanbaru province. He reportedly joined several terrorism activities in various regions.

"The suspect officiated a terrorism training activity in Kampar Regency. He proposed a terror attack against Riau Police office," the National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Rikwanto said.

"The suspect was involved in a bomb-making training in Jambi province. He was informed about a shooting training in the province," the National Police official added.

Densus 88 also staged counterterrorism operations in South Sulawesi, Central Java and East Java provinces. The elite squad reportedly detained four suspected terrorists in the three provinces.
