Govt to Investigate Tangerang Firecrackers Factory Explosion

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Manpower Ministry will investigate the firecrackers factory explostion that killed about 47 workers and injured around 50 others.

The incident happened in Tangerang regency on Thursday morning. The fire started near the machinery room during the operational time.

"We will focus on workplace safety aspect. We will review this very important issue," the Manpower Ministry labour inspection director general Sugeng Prayitno said.

"We will check all permits. We will coordinate with local authorities," the Manpower Ministry official added.

The factory reportedly did not have sufficient emergency exits. The company also did not employ enough security officers.

The factory is managed by a company called PT Panca Buana Cahaya Sukses. The company is owned by a businessman named Indra Liyono.
