19 Hotspots Detected in South Sumatra

Metrotvnews.com, Palembang: The South Sumatra Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency on Monday recorded as many as 19 hotspots in a number of regencies.

There were 11 hostpots in Ogan Ilir regency, two hotspots in Penungkal abab Lematang Ilir regency and two hotspots in Banyuasin regency.

There were a hotspot in North Musi Rawas regency, a hotspot in Muara Enim regency and a hot spot in Empang Lawang regency.

"Only a heavy rain that can effectively put down the forest fire in Ogan Ilir regency," the South Sumatra Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency acting chief Iriansyah said.

Local authorities have prepared three water bombing helicopters. Related agencies have deployed hundreds of firefighters.

"We are still investigating the forest fire in Ogan Ilir regency," the II/Sriwijaya Military Regional Command chief Major General A.M. Putranto said.
