Police Have Arrested 28 Terror Suspects Ahead of Holidays: Spokesperson

Jakarta: The National Police has arrested as many as 28 suspected terorrists ahead of Christmas and New Year holidays. 

Five suspected terrorists were detained in Malaysia. Meanwhile, the remaining suspected terrorists were detained in Indonesia.

An Indonesian suspected terrorist was caught in Peninsular Malaysia. He was allegedly involved in a pressure cooker bomb attack in West Java.

Four Indonesian suspected terrorists were caught in Serawak State. They were reportedly linked with militants in southern Philippines.

"The Indonesian suspected terrorist has been handed over to Indonesia. The remaining four suspected terrorits are still being transferred from Malaysia," said the National Police spokesperson Inspector General Setyo Wasisto at the National Police head office on Monday afternoon.

The law enforcement agency has issued a number of proactive measures to secure the upcoming holidays. Moreover, the Special Detachment 88 Anti-Terror has monitored terror cells to prevent any terror threats.
