6.5 Magnitude Quake Hits North of Java

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: A 6.5 magnitude earthquake rocked the Java Sea on Wednesday (10/19) morning.

The quake struck at 07.25 AM local time with epicenter at 120 km northeast of Subang and the depth at 654 km below the sea floor.

"People in Tangerang, Jakarta, Bekasi, Subang, Cikarang, Cirebon, Indramayu, Bogor, Cilegon and Sumedang experienced weak eathquake shakes," said National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugrhoho in a written statement on Wednesday (10/19).

"The earthquake did not trigger tsunami," he stated.
