Death Toll  Rises Again to 27 in Garut Floods, 22 Still Missing

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The death toll from the flash floods in Garut, West Java has risen again to at least 27.

"22 people are still missing," National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said in a written statement on Friday (9/23) morning.

Sutopo mentioned more than 1,600 personnel are deployed to find the missing and help the evacuees. "Search operations are conducted in Sukakarya, Cimacan, Pamingi and Sukamantri villages," he added.

Heavy rain triggered flash floods in Garut on Tuesday (9/20) evening. The flash floods destroyed hundreds of buildings in the regency.
