Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Heavy rains triggered flash floods in several locations in Garut, West Java on Tuesday (9/20) evening.

At least 16 people have been killed in the disaster. Meanwhile, 8 others are still missing.

"More than 1,000 residents have been evacuated," National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said in a press release on Wednesday (9/21).

The flash floods hit seven districts in the regency: Bayongbong, Garut Kota, Banyu Resmi, Tarogong Kaler, Tarogong Kidul, Karang Pawitan and Samarang.
