Workers gathered in Jakarta to protest against the latest minimum wage policy and the tax amnesty scheme

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Thousands of workers gathered in Jakarta on Thursday (9/28) to protest against the latest minimum wage regulation and the tax amnesty program.

"This is our last option. We want to be heard by the government," Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) secretary General M Rusdi said during the protest.

"We want decent wage. We urge the government to revoke the latest minimum wage regulation. We also urge the government to revoke the tax amnesty program," he continued.

Rusdi claimed around 15 thousand workers joined the protest. Jakarta Metro Police deployed around 5,000 personnel to guard the demonstration.

The demonstration created traffic congestion in Thamrin area. The workers will continue the protest until dusk.
