East Java Creates Task Force to Tackle Forest Fires

Metrotvnews.com, Surabaya: East Java provincial administration has established a task force to tackle forest fires in the region.

Various agencies are included in the task force such as the National Police, the National Armed Forces, East Java Forestry Agency and East Java Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD). 

"Now we can have better cooperation," East Java BPBD chief Sudharmawan said here on Friday (9/16/2016).

Forest fires in East Java are not as big as those in Sumatra and Kalimantan. However, they are still dangerous for nearby residents.

Forest fires occurred in Situbondo regency last week. It disturb economic activities in the north coast of Java.
