Death Toll Rises in Garut Flash Floods
Flash floods hit several locations in Garut, West Java on Tuesday (9/20) evening (Photo: Antara/Adeng Bustomi), Bandung: Officials have found 20 dead victims after flash floods in Garut, West Java.

"Four people seriously injured, while 27 lightly injured," West Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus said in Bandung on Wednesday (9/21).

Yusri mentioned the dead victims were found in  Lapang Paris, Bojong Larang and Cimacan villages. The injured victims were brought to Guntur Army Hospital.

Heavy rains triggered flash floods in several locations in Garut on Tuesday (9/20) evening. The flash floods destroyed houses and public buildings in the regency.

Separately, National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said authorities evacuated more than 1,000 residents from the affected areas. They currently stay in military bases and other evacuation camps.
