Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Jakarta Metro Police will monitor social media during 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"Our cyber crime unit will monitor social media 24 hours a day to detect black campaign," Jakarta Metro Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Awi Setiyono said here on Friday (9/16/2016).

"We will anticipate racism," he continued.

Incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) is considered as the strongest candidate in the election although he is a member of a minority group.

Ahok is endorsed by National Democratic Party (Nasdem), People's Conscience Party (Hanura) and Functional Groups Party (Golkar). Some observers claimed he will also be supported by Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).
