Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo urged the public to respect the ongoing legal process after the police named Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Prunama as a suspect in a blasphemy case.

"President Jokowi urged all sides to respect the ongoing legal process," said presidential spokesman Johan Budi at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/16).

The police named Ahok as a suspect this morning. They promised to process the case quickly.

Several Islamic organizations reported Ahok last month after he made comments about the Koran.

Ahok will still compete in the Jakarta gubernatorial election despite the suspect status. The capital will hold the gubernatorial election next February.
