Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Regional Representatives Council (DPD) made Irman Gusman non-active as speaker during a plenary meeting on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

"For now, he is non-active," DPD Deputy Speaker Farouk Muhammad said after the plenary meeting.

Previously, The DPD Honorary Board decided to remove Irman from the post for violating code of ethics.

"The decision is final and binding. The DPD Honorary Board will monitor the administration process," Farouk continued.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Irman last week. The agency named him a suspect in a bribery case related to sugar import quota in West Sumatra.
