Political Observer Predicts 3 Candidates in 2017 Jakarta Election

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Poltracking Indonesia executive director Hanta Yuda has predicted three gubernatorial candidates will compete in 2017 Jakarta election.

Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), National Democratic Party (Nasdem), People's Conscience Party (Hanura) and Functional Groups Party (Golkar) will support incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok).

Meanwhile, Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) and Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) will support Sandiaga Uno.

Lastly, Democratic Party, National Awakening Party (PKB), National Mandate Party (PAN) and United Development Party will support Yusril Ihza Mahendra.

"We can have two rounds," Hanta said here on Thursday (9/15/2016).

A candidate must win more than 50 percent votes to win the election. If not, the top two candidates will continue to the second round.

Registration period for the 2017 Jakarta election will begin next week.
