Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Jakarta Metro Police will conduct a joint operation to guard Eid al-Adha celebration in the capital.

"It comprises the Jakarta Metro Police, the Jakarta Fire Department, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Transportation Agency and military," Jakarta Metro Police chief Insp. Gen. Moechgiyarto here on Thursday (9/8/2016).

The agencies will deploy around 3,500 personnel during the celebration.

Eid al-Adha is the second biggest Islamic holiday after Eid al-Fitr. It commemorates the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son.

It also marks the end of the annual Hajj to Mecca. There are around 160 thousand Indonesian Hajj pilgrims this year.
