Madiun Mayor Named as Graft Suspect
Madiun Mayor Bambang Irianto (right) (Photo: Antara/Siswowidodo), Jakarta: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Madiun Mayor Bambang irianto as a suspect in a graft case related to the construction of Pasar Besar Madiun market from 2009 to 2012.

"KPK has increased the status of the investigation," said KPK deputy chief Laode Muhammad Syarif in Jakarta on Monday (10/17).

KPK conducted searches in Madiun and Jakarta after the agency named Bambang as suspect. KPK searched his office, his house and his company in Madiun.

"We also searched PT Lince Roma Maya in Jakarta. We confiscated several documents and electronic devices," Laode continued.

Bambang has been Madiun Mayor since 2009. He is a Democratic Party politician.
