Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) has strongly signaled Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) will support him in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

PDIP is expected to announce its candidate at its headquarters in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta this evening.

"See you in Lenteng Agung," he said in Thousand Islands Regency on Tuesday (9/20/2016).

Ahok is widely considered as the strongest candidate in the election. He is currently supported by National Democratic Party (Nasdem), People's Conscience Party (Hanura) and Functional Groups Party (Golkar).

Separately, Hanura politician Miryam S. Haryani confirmed PDIP will support the incumbent pair.

"It is final. Ahok will be supported by Hanura, Nasdem, Golkar and PDIP," Miryam stated.
