Gov't Restarts G Island Reclamation Project

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The government has decided to restart the G Island reclamation project in the Jakarta bay.

"We will continue the project," Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said here on Friday (9/9/2016).

Luhut explained developer PT Muara Wisesa Samudra has made adjustments. The company is a subsidiary of PT Agung Podomoro Land.

"The company has made several adjustments," he continued.

Previous Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli canceled the project in June 2016. Rizal revealed state electricity company PLN has electrical cables under the project. 

Moreover, Rizal claimed fishing community and the environment will be harmed by the project.
